Introduction

Dr. Vedant Kabra is the Principal Director of Surgical Oncology at Fortis Memorial Research Institute. Patients end up here when a breast biopsy confirms cancer, a GI tumor needs robotic removal, head and neck cancer requires surgery and function, or a sarcoma shows up in bone or soft tissue.

About Dr. Vedant Kabra

Dr. Vedant Kabra did his MBBS and MS from Banaras Hindu University, where he grabbed the University Gold Medal. Then trained in surgical oncology at two of the best cancer centres you can train at — Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, and National Cancer Centre Singapore. It is where you see cancer volumes that most oncologists won’t encounter in a lifetime. Singapore added precision and protocol discipline.

He performed more than twenty thousand cancer surgeries. Also does robotic cancer surgery across the GI tract, thorax, and pelvis using advanced platforms for precise tumor removal with minimal blood loss and faster recovery. Tutors the Indo-British Breast Oncoplasty Fellowship run by the University of East Anglia. Previously headed surgical oncology at Manipal Hospital and was a senior consultant at Max Delhi.

Patient Experience & Approach

Breast cancer patients say the Dr. Vedant Kabra conversation about conservation versus mastectomy happened honestly. Families dealing with GI cancers appreciate the robotic approach, which meant smaller wounds and the patient was eating and moving sooner than expected. His tobacco advocacy work tells you something about character: a surgeon who fights to prevent cancer, not just treat it once it shows up.
