Introduction

Dr. Salil Jain is the Senior Director and HOD of Nephrology & Renal Transplant at FMRI. Patients usually end up in his clinic when diabetes severely damages their kidneys, when they need a highly complex blood-mismatch kidney transplant, or when sudden acute kidney failure lands them in the ICU.

About Dr. Salil Jain

Dr. Salil Jain has been treating severe kidney conditions for over twenty-six years. He did his MD in General Medicine from Grant Government Medical College and his DNB in Nephrology at the prestigious Jaslok Hospital in Mumbai. Before taking over the massive renal department at FMRI, he spent years operating as a senior consultant at Medanta and Fortis Vasant Kunj.

He actually authored the official teaching module on chronic kidney disease for the British Medical Journal. He takes on the really tough transplant cases. Routinely manages both living and deceased donor kidney transplants. But his real expertise shines in high-risk scenarios, specifically ABO-incompatible procedures where the donor and recipient don’t even have matching blood types.

Patient Experience & Approach

Families staring down a kidney transplant say Dr. Salil Jain doesn’t just hand them a surgical date. He actually sits down and breaks down how the anti-rejection drugs work and what their daily routine will realistically look like post-surgery. Patients dealing with scary ABO-incompatible transplants mention how their Toronto training brings a massive sense of calm to a highly stressful situation.
