Introduction
Dr. Naresh Trehan is Founder, Chairman, and Managing Director of Medanta. He operates on blocked coronary arteries, damaged heart valves, and end-stage hearts needing transplant. He handles first-time bypass operations to the most complicated redo surgeries and transplants in the country.
About Dr. Naresh Trehan
Dr. Naresh Trehan has experience of fifty-five years in cardiac surgery. He did over forty-eight thousand open-heart surgeries. There’s probably no cardiac surgeon alive in India with that kind of volume. Most patients come to him for coronary disease too severe for stenting or heart failure so advanced that a transplant is the only option left.
Dr. Naresh operates with both hands equally well, working faster inside the chest, and patients spend less time under anaesthesia. He founded Escorts Heart Institute in 1987, which basically put Indian cardiac surgery on the global map. Ran it for twenty years, then built Medanta in 2009, which is now one of the largest hospitals in the country. And has been Personal Surgeon to the President of India since 1991.
