Introduction

Dr. Jayant Arora is the Principal Director and Unit Head of Orthopaedics at FMRI. Patients usually reach him when their knees or hips are completely destroyed by arthritis, when an old sports injury tears a ligament, or when a massive accident shatters their bones. He handles routine keyhole shoulder repairs to highly advanced, robot-assisted joint replacements.

About Dr. Jayant Arora

Dr. Jayant Arora has experience of twenty-nine years in orthopaedics. He has successfully performed over 15,000 orthopedic surgeries, which means his surgical instinct is incredibly sharp. Most patients coming to him have delayed getting a joint replacement out of absolute fear, and finally just want their mobility back.

After completing his MS at Safdarjung Hospital, he spent seven intense years training and operating in the United Kingdom. He brought all those strict UK surgical protocols back to India. Instead of making massive incisions, he heavily utilizes computer navigation and robotic platforms to perform partial and total knee replacements. He is also highly skilled in arthroscopy, using tiny cameras to fix torn ACLs and stabilize shoulders for athletes. Before moving to Fortis, he built and led the orthopedic department at Columbia Asia Hospital for over a decade.

Patient Experience & Approach

Patients say Dr. Jayant Arora’s knee evaluation doesn’t jump straight to total replacement. If only one compartment is damaged, the conversation starts with partial replacement — less bone removed, faster recovery, more natural feeling knee. His Wrightington training shows in how thoughtfully implant selection gets discussed, as not every knee gets the same implant because not every knee has the same problem.
