Dr. (Col) Avnish Seth has experience of more than forty-two years in gastroenterology and hepatology, with twenty-seven of those spent serving in the Armed Forces, where you deal with whatever walks through the door, no questions asked. Served as Head of Gastroenterology at Army Hospital R&R and was literally the Gastroenterologist to the President of India.
He received the Vishisht Seva Medal from the President in 2009. Which was for setting up the first successful deceased donor liver transplant program in a Government hospital in North India. Founded AORTA, the Armed Forces Organ Retrieval & Transplantation Authority. Which helped in pushing organ donation in military hospitals. Sits on the Government of India committee framing national liver transplant guidelines.
