Dr. Ajay Kumar Kriplani is the Principal Director and HOD of Minimal Access, Bariatric, and GI Surgery at FMRI. He actually holds a massive milestone in Indian medicine, being one of the very first surgeons to introduce and popularize laparoscopic keyhole surgery in the country.

Dr. Ajay Kumar Kriplani has experience of forty-five years in surgery. First surgeon in India to perform a laparoscopic adrenalectomy, first to do a laparoscopic splenectomy. And also first in North India to pull off a laparoscopic Whipple’s procedure for pancreatic cancer. Three national firsts from the same pair of hands.

He trained hundreds of surgeons across India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Served as President of the Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endosurgeons, where he launched fellowship training programmes that standardized laparoscopic education across the country. Previously worked at Indraprastha Apollo and won over twenty national and international awards.
