About Dr. Rahul Bhargava

Dr. Rahul Bhargava won Best Outgoing Student during both MD and DM training twice, at two different levels, which tells you something about consistency. With over 24 years of experience, he has successfully completed more than 2,000 bone marrow transplants. He actually built the BMT programs at both Medanta and Artemis from the ground up before leading the massive unit at Fortis.

Beyond treating blood cancers, he made medical history in India back in 2016 by becoming the first physician to use stem cell transplants to treat multiple sclerosis (MS). He is also fiercely dedicated to public health, actively campaigning to build low-cost BMT centers across India to treat anemia and thalassemia in poorer communities.

Patient Experience & Approach

Families mention that Dr. Rahul Bhargava prepares them mentally for this exact reality. Leukemia families mention that the treatment roadmap was laid out honestly from induction through transplant. MS patients who tried every available drug without results say the stem cell transplant reset gave them stability they hadn’t felt in years. His push for low-cost BMT centres shows a surgeon who thinks beyond his own operating room.
