Dr. Alok Thakar, Director of ENT and Head & Neck Oncology at Medanta Noida. He handles routine ENT surgeries to extremely complex robotic throat cancer removals and skull base operations that very few surgeons in the country take on.

About Dr. Alok Thakar

Dr. Thakar has been working in ENT and head and neck surgery for close to thirty-nine years now. He was Professor and Chairman of ENT at AIIMS, New Delhi, and headed the National Cancer Institute there before moving to Medanta. Most patients reaching him either have head and neck cancers or complicated skull base tumors that other surgeons said are too risky to touch.

Dr. Thakar actually brought Trans-Oral Robotic Surgery to India, by which throat cancers could be removed through the mouth using robotic arms instead of cutting open the entire neck. Does skull base procedures for tumors growing near the brain and critical nerves, where one millimeter matters. Got his MS in ENT from AIIMS New Delhi with a gold medal, and then trained further in neuro-otology and skull base surgery at Aintree University

Those whose family members had skull base tumors appreciate that he took on cases other hospitals turned away, saying too dangerous.
